Well, this feels particularly relevant today. NAZA, a documentary by two Israeli filmmakers investigating the IDF’s conduct in Gaza, premiered at the Venice Film Festival yesterday. It received a 25-minute standing ovation. Israeli filmmakers. Making an extraordinarily serious criticism of the Israeli state. Applauded for 25 minutes.

Venice Film Festival ends this weekend, 10 days of cinema on the Lido, one of the most glamorous and genuinely strange settings for a film festival on earth. I've been to Venice but not during the festival. Adding it to the list of things to experience in a city I've already been to for a completely different reason.
